quoting JMP scripting projects
Scripting projects consist of 4 major components:
[1] Data input.
[2] Options, preferences, and parameters that need to be communicated through dialog boxes.
[3] The JMP script itself (.JSL file).
[4] Output reports.
We only require information about items 1, 2 and 4, we'll take care of item 3.
So, please tell us about your data and provide a representative sample in text, Excel or JMP format. Let us know where it is coming from (a database, automated equipment, etc.).
Referring to item 2, what are the options, parameters and preferences to be considered? Do you want provision to:
- Restrict the analysis to particular products or production lines
- Select the date range
- Identify how the output should be presented, such as web pages, RTF file, etc.?
- determine whether or not to send email notification
Let your imagination run wild here - brainstorm the possibilities with your colleagues. Look for opportunities to eliminate every nuissance associated with this analysis and to mistake-proof the process.
Tell us about the output. How do you want it arranged? Do you want any special statistics detailed on the reports? Would you like any directions or other messages included in the report (should they be in bold or positioned strategically)? Any special headings?
A great way to communicate what you want is to mock something up in an Excel file. You could cut (literally) JMP print outs and paste them together in the arrangement you want.
We do not expect you to work alone in launching a scripting project, we are happy to review your initial thoughts and suggest ways of ensuring you get substantial productivity gains.
To get started, contact us and let's arrange to telephone conversation. Once we have all the information, we'll provide you with a written estimate.
